Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I see photographs with “photo by dick herman” name plastered over the image. When I order one of his photographs will it be on my print?

No. Dick Herman’s signature will either be on the bottom left or bottom right side depending on which is less conspicuous. His signature will be small and discrete.

When I order one of Dick Herman’s popular size prints; five feet wide, how does it come to my address.

Dick Herman treats all of his photographs as works of art and it comes packaged with the utmost care and protection. If you ordered a large print, you would receive a larger plywood wooden crate. It will come via UPS, sidewalk delivery only. You will have to make arrangements to bring it into your house. You, or your handyman, will have to unscrew approximately 3 dozen screws to open the crate. Once opened you will see a well wrapped and protected artwork inside. It will be your responsibility to dispose of the crate.

On your web page you show an historic photograph of Muhammad Ali taken over 50 years ago by Dick Herman. I understand that the Smithsonian acquired this photograph. If I wanted to purchase a museum quality signed photograph, how do I go about obtaining one?

Dick Herman sells signed “originals” of his historic photograph to private art collectors, museums, and universities world-wide. This photograph is a 16X20 Silver Halide Gelatin Archival black & white Print. It comes with a 20X24 matting. Dick Herman’s signature is on the matting, on the back of the print, and below the print (white space). If interested, you can call Dick Herman (917-806-5662) and he will discuss it with you personally.

I have an art gallery in another state and want to show a couple of dozen prints of various sizes by Dick Herman in my gallery. How do I make that happen?

Dick Herman has a few suggestions of how to make this happen without the expense of making dozens of prints. He has created a copyright digital flash drive of over 100 high resolution prints for galleries and suggests that the galleries have a large screen tv to present the prints. Of course, the gallery should order a few large metal prints as well to show what the actual finished art looks like. It is best to call Dick Herman 917-806-5662.

I have ordered one of Dick Herman’s five foot wide art photographs on metal. If I order another different print of any size, am I entitled to a discount because I’m a repeat client?

I see that your most popular photograph size is 5 feet wide. What is the largest print that you can make?

A friend of mine ordered a print from you and you installed it for her in her home. Do you offer that service for everyone?

I do installations for all New York City addresses for a nominal fee of $250.00 for one photograph 7 feet wide or less, which includes uncrating and hanging the photograph. It also includes the disposing of the crate. Client must be within a 50 mile radius of NYC.

How do I clean my metal print?

Metal prints are the longest lasting photo medium. They last three times longer than high quality photo paper under glass. You can dust or clean them with a lint free or microfiber cloth; you can even use Windex or Glass Plus.

How do I know what print to choose on my wall?

Take a picture of the room that you want my photograph to hang and e-mail me that picture. I will super-impose my artwork onto your wall and e-mail you that super-imposed shot. You can keep on choosing which of my art work you like until you know which works best for you in that room.
