Dick Herman’s claim to fame is a photograph he captured of Muhammad Ali after he won the fight with Jerry Quarry at the Municipal Auditorium in Atlanta on October 27th , 1970. It was Ali’s first fight in almost 4 years after being convicted of draft evasion due to his religious convictions.
The photograph shows Muhammad Ali being interviewed by Tom Harmon, famous sportscaster, legendary college football player and Heisman Trophy winner. Also featured are Rev. Jesse Jackson and Drew “Bundini” Brown, Ali’s corner-man and speech writer who is seen putting his hand over Ali’s heart.
